Thrown

Privacy Policy

Effective August 14, 2026

Thrown is a studio log for potters, made by SMITHWORKS ATX. The short version: your studio data belongs to you.We collect only what the app needs to work, we don't run ads, we don't use advertising trackers or sell data, and you can export or delete everything yourself.

What we collect

  • Account information — your email address and a password (stored as a secure hash by our authentication provider), or your Google account identity if you sign in with Google.
  • Your studio content — the records you create: recipes, materials, clay bodies, kilns, firing logs, making sessions, pieces, notes, and the photos you attach to them.
  • Crash and error reports — if the app hits a bug, technical details (device model, OS version, what failed) are sent to Sentry, our error-tracking service, so we can fix it. These reports do not include screenshots or recordings of your screen.

That's the whole list. There is no advertising SDK, no analytics profiling, and no tracking across other apps or websites.

Where it lives

Cloud data is stored with Supabase (hosted on AWS in the United States). Photos live in private storage readable only by your account. On your phone or tablet, the app also keeps a local copy of your studio so it works offline; that copy stays on your device.

How it's used

Solely to provide the product: syncing your studio between your devices, showing your data back to you, and sending the emails you ask for (sign-up confirmation, password reset). We never sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers named above (Supabase for data, Sentry for crash reports), which process it on our behalf.

Your controls

  • Export— the mobile app's Backup screen produces a complete zip (database + photos) you can keep anywhere, any time.
  • Delete — Account → Delete account permanently removes your cloud account, every record, and every photo. Local copies on your own devices remain yours to keep or delete.
  • Access & correction — everything we store is visible and editable in the app itself.

Retention

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account it is removed immediately from the live database; short-lived infrastructure backups age out automatically after a few days.

Children

Thrownis not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
